Surfactant
Surfactants are wetting agents used to loosen and remove soil from surfaces. They are used as foaming agents in cleaners and to reduce surface tension (make things more pliable).
Found in detergents, fabric softeners, emulsifiers, paints, biocides, spermicides, shampoos, and conditioners.
Effects: Acute: some surfactants are known to be toxic to animals, ecosystems and humans, and can increase the diffusion of other environmental contaminants.
