Linalool, esters, aldehydes and ketones are all present in lavender oil, with each adding to the lavender's quality. Spanish Lavender, and its higher level of ketones is more effective for pain and inflammation in the body. It is also the Ketones which create the sleep-inducing effect.

The flowers, and the essential oil derived from them, are anti-asthmatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, digestive and expectorant. Externally, the essential oil is used as an antiseptic wash for wounds, ulcers, sores etc and as a relaxing massage oil. Eases menstrual cramps and colic.

Blends well with: bergamot, chamomile, lemon, orange, patchouli, pine, rosemary, ylang ylang

Caring for your oils: Essential oils can be negatively effected by ultra violet rays or wide ranges in temperature. They should be kept in dark translucent bottles, out of the sun, and in a moderate temperature stable environment.

Using your oils: Essential oils are very potent, and only in the rarest cases should be used in undiluted form.
